1. Name: Varinder Singh Bola

2. Ward you represent: Cranbrook Ward

3. When you were elected: 2014 and re-elected in 2018

4. Biggest achievement/ result as a councillor so far will: Redbridge is rapidly changing with new development taking place. This term I've worked hard to advance the interests of all our local residents by pushing for better design and quality of development in the borough. I hope that the effort we're putting in now will create a positive environment for future generations to enjoy.

5. The most important thing you would like to change in your ward: I would like to see a general improvement to the public realm in Gants Hill and the parade of shops - making it a more inviting and social place to be.

6. Favourite location in your ward: I definitely have a sweet tooth and will find any excuse to visit Creams (ice cream parlour) on Cranbrook Road. We're lucky that Cranbrook Road have a number of other 'iconic' restaurants such as the famous Caraway.

7. Favourite TV Show: Kim's Convenience on Netflix is very amusing and definitely a sitcom that has grown on me.

8. Book recommendations: I read a lot of books by Indian authors. One of my favourite books is Khushwantnama by the late Khushwant Singh. In the book the author reflects on a life lived fully and the lessons it has taught him. I must warn you - he certainly doesn't hold back or spare any details!

9. Favourite type of food: I love eating Mexican and Thai food. I usually go for a vegetarian enchilada or red thai curry with satay sauce.

10. Ideal holiday destinations once lockdown is over: I want go on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu with my family.
